What a kitchen fit actually involves
A kitchen is the most service-heavy room in a house. Behind the units there is hot and cold feed, waste, gas in many cases, and a ring main that has to carry an oven, a hob, an extractor and everything plugged into the worktop. Getting those right is most of the job; the doors and handles are the easy part.
We carry out the whole sequence in-house rather than subcontracting it out piecemeal, which is what usually causes kitchen projects to stall. One team means one person accountable for the programme, and no waiting a fortnight for a plumber to come back and connect a sink.
Strip-out
Old units, appliances, flooring and tiling removed and disposed of, with the services made safe.
First fix plumbing
Hot, cold and waste runs set out for the sink, dishwasher, washing machine and any island.
Electrics
Sockets, appliance circuits, extractor and lighting, including under-cabinet and plinth lighting.
Units & worktops
Carcasses levelled and fixed, doors aligned, worktops templated, cut and sealed.
Tiling & flooring
Splashbacks, full-height tiling and floor finishes laid on a properly prepared substrate.
Open-plan kitchen-diners
A lot of the kitchen work we are asked about in Streatham, Balham and Clapham is in Victorian and Edwardian terraces, where the kitchen is a narrow galley at the back of the house. Opening it into the dining room or out into a side return transforms how the ground floor works.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a kitchen take to fit?
Most kitchen refits take two to three weeks on site once materials have arrived. A straightforward replacement in the same layout can be quicker; knocking through to make an open-plan kitchen-diner adds structural work and takes longer. We give you a programme with the quote.
Can we stay in the house during the work?
Yes, in almost all cases. You will be without a kitchen for the duration, so most clients set up a temporary worktop and kettle elsewhere. We sheet up, keep dust down and clear the site at the end of each day.
Do you supply the kitchen or do we?
Either. Some clients buy their own units and have us fit them; others prefer us to supply everything. We are happy to work with units from any supplier and will tell you before ordering if we think something will not work in your space.
